Currently listening to: Nothing

What a surprise. I thought I had done quite badly, even though I was pretty sure I'd pass. Oh well. I'm not complaining. Absolutely not. I'm quite happy actually. I think I'll skip instead of walk.

On another note, apparently you can't drink absinthe on its own. You have to mix it with other beverages. And I only found out AFTER I drank two shots of it at one go. Let's just hope that there aren't any long-lasting side effects.

And on another note, I was so tired the other night that I actually fell asleep while texting my cute and funny friend. I don't even remember it happening. I just woke up a couple of hours later to find my hand holding my Nokia 3250, and when I checked it, I saw this unfinished message which obviously wasn't sent out. And then I checked my received messages and I saw my friend's text, which I really don't remember receiving in the first place.

I thought it was pretty funny. I've heard of people falling asleep while writing, but texting? This reminds me of the time when I fell asleep while chatting online.

Currently listening to: Barbossa Is Hungry from Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl

I was watching this Japanese drama 1 Litre Of Tears, and in one scene, the daughter, who was suffering from Spinocerebellar Degeneration, told her mother that writing is the only way to show that she is still alive. For me, I feel that writing is the only way to preserve my memories, because seriously, there is only so much that I can remember, and there are too many things which I do not want to forget. Even if most of them seem like the tiniest of things right now.

You would've thought that since it is the holidays, I would've been able to pack in more sleep into my schedule. And I did. Just at the oddest hours. Staying up until early in the morning and sleeping in until late in the evening. Not good not good...

4.6 units of alcohol

Monday, June 25, 2007

Currently listening to: Nothing

It has been one whirlwind of a weekend. Kind of. It snowed on Friday night. My prayers have finally been answered. After two long years, it finally snowed in the city of Dunedin. It wasn't as pretty as the one in 2004, but it's pretty nonetheless.

I woke up the next evening to see chunks of snow here and there on the road, and more snow uphill. So pretty, and quite dangerous too, because I was driving. It was much better in town, and that was my main concern because it was my girlfriend's turn to drive and my turn to drink. And I drank alright. Two shots of absinthe in less than 10 minutes. It tasted like Galliano, but with a sharper taste. And, of course, higher content of alcohol. You can't get any higher than 89.9%.

Anyway, needless to say, I was pretty much "up there" for the rest of the night, dancing and twirling on the dance floor. Despite feeling extremely high, I knew exactly what I was doing, and I have always been able to remember everything that had happened afterwards. So, I know that I was doing more twirling than usual, going around in circles on my own. It's not just because of the influence of alcohol though; I was wearing a dress, and I loved the feeling of the dress swinging around my legs whenever I twirl.

There is, however, a price to pay for all of these things. I woke up the next day with a hungover, but not one which could not be cured by drinking lots of water and sleeping in. By the time I woke up once and for all in the evening, I was feeling alright. I was even able to go to work, although I would've liked it if I didn't have to. Am getting lazy, which is not good because I NEED THE MONEY.

It's nice to be able to go WILD once in a while without having to worry about anything. I really appreciate having my cute and funny girlfriend with me. She's the best. So seriously, if you are a guy and you are reading this, what is WRONG with you?

My poor feet. My poor left foot, to be exact. It was frozen the night before, and only started to thaw when I was cleaning the showers at the gym with scalding hot water. Now, they are an ugly red colour, my left toes. My poor left toes...

If anybody can explain to me why some guys would actually munch on a banana while taking a shower in the men's room at the gym and then conveniently leave the banana peel behind, please do. I'm curious.

On another note, I have a very cute and funny girlfriend. So to all you guys out there who cannot tell a gem when you see one... LOSERS!

The Holiday is a nice movie. Like Because I Said So, it has its funny scenes, good good-looking guys and silly-crazy pretty girls. For a romantic comedy, it is not too mushy, and that's really good, because the last thing I need right now is mushiness.

Because I Said So is not too bad a movie. It has its share of funny scenes, good good-looking guys and silly-crazy pretty girls. Diane Keaton is good, as usual. I love Mandy Moore's curls. Gorgeous. And so is Gabriel Macht. Sigh.

I also have to remember that when I have an empty stomach, my tolerance of alcohol lowers significantly, and I have to drink slower.

I need to remember that I use ball number 12 when I bowl. I DEFINITELY need to remember to cut my nails short before I bowl. Either that, or I need to remember to bring talc powder and nail clipper whenever I bowl.

Let it snow!

It is so wet and cold today. I wish it would snow instead. I had to cancel a lunch date because it was raining so badly and I felt bad for getting my friend to come out under such a bad weather condition. For Dunedin's standard anyway. On the other hand, my friend would've cancelled the lunch date if it was snowing, because he would've been snowed in.

Oh well. At least I saved myself some money... *fingers crossed*

How to make a Backdraft

Currently listening to: I Don't Think Now Is The Time from Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End

It used to be THE drink, until they took it off the menu. Somebody must've overdone it.

Ingredients:

30ml of black Sambuca
30ml of Cointreau

Additional:

Cinnamon powder

Instructions:

Put a shot glass in the center of a saucer or ash tray. Fill the shot glass with black Sambuca. Pour in the Cointreau, allowing it to overflow into the saucer or ash tray. Light up the concoction, and sprinkle the cinnamon powder into the flaming alcohol from about 1/3 of a meter above the shot glass. All the while, hold a pint glass above the flames to catch the alcohol vapour coming off of the burning liquids. After 3 to 6 sprinkles of cinnamon powder, lower the pint glass so that it covers the shot glass, and gently blow out the flames still burning outside the pint glass. The flames on the inside of the pint glass will extinguish on their own.

Remove the pint glass and put 2 to 3 ice cubes into the glass, after which cover the opening of the glass immediately with the palm of the hand. The drinker will then drink from the shot glass, as well as the saucer or ash tray, using a straw, before slipping the straw through the fingers of the hand still covering the pint glass into the glass and "drink" the condensed alcohol.

Note: Since the drinker can't possibly drink from the shot glass and cover the pint glass with the palm of a hand at the same time, there should be at least one more person involved in making this drink.

I love the soundtrack. Any music that can make my heart swell just from listening to it is good music, and needless to say, worth loving. It makes me a little sad too, but I can always overlook that part.

I love the soundtrack.

That time of the year

Currently listening to: Nothing

I am still feeling restless. So yeah. Dang it. Sigh...

Oh yeah. I watched the movie Ten 'til Noon yesterday with some friends. It is one heck of a random movie. I'm sorry but I couldn't find any better way to describe it. Seriously. It is an artistic movie. One that is too artistic for my tastes, despite my liking for all things artistic. Sometimes anyway. Haha.

Anyway, Ten 'till Noon. Apparently it has won awards at multiple film festivals, including the San Francisco Independent Film Festival, San Diego Film Festival, and Newport Beach Film Festival. This film has got it all; you name it, they've got it.

I am not going to recommend the movie, but if you want to watch it, I won't stop you either. Who knows, you might actually like it. I'll just tell you that you'll be watching the same ten minutes over and over again. Because that's what the movie is about. The official description of the movie is as follows:

"Between 11:50 and 12:00 noon, a crime is committed. In the same ten minute period, we follow the lives of the ten people, all connected to this crime. As we see each person's point of view, we are propelled closer and closer to the truth of what exactly happened...and why."

Why did you think the movie was called Ten 'til Noon?

Smells good...

Currently listening to: Nothing

Dang it I am feeling so restless now. It's so easy to tell people something; quite easy to tell yourself too, come to think of it, but so hard to actually DO it. It feels like I'm in denial. I try to convince the other person that it is alright, but in actuality the person whom I am trying to convince is myself.

It's not that it feels wrong; it's because it feels so right that it makes you think too much about it, and THAT is wrong.
